Sustainability & certifications
Our mission is to make plastic-free packaging the easy, affordable choice for food businesses.

What is sugarcane bagasse?
Bagasse is the fibrous material left after sugarcane is crushed for juice. Instead of being burned or discarded, it is pulped and moulded into sturdy food packaging and straws.
Plant-based and plastic-free
Bagasse is a plant fibre, not plastic. Bagasse products are generally designed to break down in composting conditions, but composting claims depend on certification and local facilities – see the status note below.
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances)
PFAS have historically been used for grease resistance in some fibre packaging. Our supplier states its items are PFAS-free with no plastic lining. PFAS test reports are being collected.
Certifications explained

The list below explains what each certification means. It is for information only and does not mean we hold these certificates today.
Food-contact safety
- FDA (United States Food and Drug Administration) food contact – shows materials meet US (United States) food-contact requirements. (FDA does not "approve" packaging; compliance is supported by supplier test reports.)
- LFGB (German Food and Feed Code) – German food-contact testing, widely accepted across Europe.
- EU food-contact – Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 – the EU framework requiring that materials do not transfer harmful substances to food.
Compostability
- EN 13432 – European standard for packaging recoverable through industrial composting.
- ASTM D6400 – US specification for plastics/products designed to compost in municipal or industrial facilities.
- BPI (Biodegradable Products Institute) – North American compostability certification.
- OK Compost HOME (TÜV (Technischer Überwachungsverein, German for Technical Inspection Association) Austria) – certification for composting in home conditions.
PFAS test reports
Lab tests showing no intentionally added PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). These matter for EU and US state restrictions.
